Riverhead - Calling all Beatles fans! Animation Artist Don Duga, of Riverhead, will celebrate the 70th Birthday anniversary of John Lennon this year, with a show of his Beatles paintings at the Green Earth Café at 50 East Main Street in Riverhead, on Saturday, May 14, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The public is invited to view Don Duga's new and original Beatles series of 20 paintings honoring John Lennon and The Beatles, including The Beatles on Abbey Road, in India, at Kennedy Airport, on the Ed Sullivan Show, and of course, on stages around the world.

At 1 p.m., a program will begin with guitarist and composer Kristofer Ambrose, of Middle Island, who will play Beatles Classics on guitar, and Beatles expert and memorabilia collector Michael Maccarrone, of Sayville, who will share information about the Beatles' 45-year influence on the music industry. Hamptons writer and paparazzo Debbie Tuma, of Sag Harbor, will share her memories of meeting Lennon and McCartney in person, and pianist/composer Andrew F. Wargo, of Riverhead, will play Beatles classics and share stories from his long friendship with legendary documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles, who made the first documentary about The Beatles landing in NYC in 1964.

Duga, of Riverhead, rose to fame in 1969 when he invented the "Frosty the Snowman" character, and created this animated film classic. He also did the 1996 award-winning animated film, "Owen," about a young mouse and his beloved blanket. Duga has been creating animation for over 40 years, including "Mad Monster Party," with Phyllis Diller and Boris Karloff, and "The Last Unicorn" with Mia Farrow. He has worked on animation projects for MTV, Saturday Night Live, the Jackson Five, Sesame Street, and Nickelodeon. Don Duga has also taught at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan for over 30 years. His paintings are in private collections around the world. He will be present at the May 14 reception to greet the public.
