Patricia Engel and
Brad Watson are featured on Sunday, May 1 in the third installment of WordTheatre® Lit by Lulu, a series presented in association with Lulu.com and NYU Tisch School of the Arts. With the authors present, well known film, television and stage actors bring stories to life in the intimate fifth floor library of Soho House NY, 29 9th Avenue, New York City.
Cocktails served and books signed beginning at 6 p.m., performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. Readings are followed by a Q & A with the authors. Produced and directed by
Cedering Fox. Casting to be announced.
Watson, hailing from Wyoming, is a 2011 PEN/ Faulkner Award Finalist and a 2002 National Book Award Finalist. Wideman, MacArthur Genius Grant recipient and author of "Briefs" and "Hoop Roots," and Engel, Floridian writer whose novel "Vida" was an NPR Best Debut of 2010.
The remaining event in the series takes place on June 5, 2011 and features:
Julie Orringer, National Endowment of the Arts grantee for her debut novel "The Invisible Bridge"
Simon Van Booy, author of "The Secret Lives of People in Love" and recipient of the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, and
Michelle Latiolais, Professor and co-director of the Programs in Writing at the University of California, Irvine. Her most recent collection, "Widow," was featured on the cover of
The New York Times Book Review.
