Westhampton Beach - Grammy Award nominated songwriter, record producer, and slide guitarist
Derek Trucks and his band return to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 12 at 8 p.m. in the Mollie Parnis Auditorium.
Setting a new personal record with their sixth studio album, "Already Free," The Derek Trucks Band debuted at #19 on
Billboard's Top 200 chart. With stand out singles, "Down in the Flood," and "Get What You Deserve," this album reached #2 at AAA and #10 on Rock Radio formats.
In "Already Free," The Derek Trucks Band expands on its blues roots and Southern rock style to incorporate the larger sounds of rock, soul, jazz, Latin, and Indian music. Produced by Trucks himself, the album features both original songs and reinvigorated old ones, crossing musical boundaries and genres.
A critically acclaimed slide guitarist, Trucks was raised in a home filled with music. The guitar prodigy picked up the instrument at age nine, and was jamming with his own group by age 11. When Trucks reached 15 he had formed the core of The Derek Trucks Band. He became a full time member of the
Allman Brothers Band in 1999 (his uncle
Butch Trucks is a founding member). Trucks has played with some of the greatest musicians of all time, including
Eric Clapton,
Willie Nelson, and
Buddy Guy, among others. Trucks, who is now 30, is the youngest musician to be included in
Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the Top Hundred Guitarists of All Time.
