Westhampton Beach - On their 50th Anniversary tour, the founding and core members of Hot Tuna - Rock and Roll Hall of Famers
Jorma Kaukonen and
Jack Casady - will rock the stage at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday, December 6 at 8 p.m. in the Mollie Parnis Auditorium .
Kaukonen and Casady have been jamming together since their teenage years in Washington, DC. Their collaboration continued during their Jefferson Airplane years. Born out of that era, Hot Tuna's acoustic versions of the blues, folk, bluegrass and folk are legendary.
Kaukonen and Casady certainly could not have imagined, let alone predicted, where playing their particular style of blues-rock would take them. It's been a long and fascinating road to numerous exciting destinations over the past five decades. Two things have never changed - they still love to play as much as they did as kids, and there are still many, many exciting miles yet to travel on their musical odyssey.
Hot Tuna will be joined by mandolin player
Barry Mitterhoff, a veteran of bluegrass, Celtic, folk and rock-influenced bands. A friend since his work on Kaukonen's 2002 Grammy nominated CD, "Blue Country Heart," Barry's musical contributions to Hot Tuna add an element all their own. His career highlights are unmatched, as he's performed at the White House, the Library of Congress and the Rainbow Room. In addition, his work can be heard on the soundtrack for the film "O Brother Where Art Thou," which received a Grammy in 2001 for Album of the Year.
