Southampton - The Parrish Art Museum Business Council will host its year-end networking event, Friday Night Jazz, on Friday, November 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 pm. Veteran New York City singer and songwriter Lauren Kinhan will present music from her much anticipated solo CD "Avalon," which is scheduled for release in February 2010.
The evening, featuring food by Tim Burke Productions, champagne from Veuve Cliquot, and wines from Bedell Cellars, will take place in the Museum's concert hall, which will be transformed into a cabaret for the evening.
Kinhan continues to bridge musical genres that span jazz, pop, blues, folk, classical, and Brazilian jazz with ease and aplomb. Her rich and expressive vocals and melodies, her poetic lyrics and inventive arrangements combine to create a truly unique and powerful artist. Legendary Phil Ramone describes Lauren as a true songstress, like Joni Mitchell and Phoebe Snow: "She is musical, lyrical, and really delivers vocally." Over the years, Kinhan has worked with Bobby McFerrin on his choral project, recorded and toured with Ornette Coleman, and worked with such renowned artists as Herbie Hancock, Janis Siegel, Nancy Wilson, and Kenny Rankin, among many others. Kinhan is a longtime member of the Grammy Award-winning vocal jazz quartet New York Voices.
The evening, which is open to the general public and Parrish Members, provides an opportunity for local business professionals to come together, make new contacts and friends, while relaxing to jazz with a glass of Bedell Cellars wine or Veuve Clicquot champagne and sampling the delicious hors d'oeuvres by Tim Burke Productions. Tickets to the event are $35 for Parrish Members and $50 for Nonmembers. For those who join the Business Council prior to, or on the night of the event, four free tickets will be offered.
For more information, or to purchase tickets, call the Membership Department at 631-283-2118, ext. 49, e-mail membership@parrishart.org or visit the Museum's website at parrishart.org.
