Southampton Cultural Center's Rising Stars Piano Recital Series Presents Matthew Graybil

Southampton - Southampton Cultural Center's Rising Stars Piano Recital Series will present Matthew Graybil on Saturday, November 14, at 7 p.m. at the Levitas Center for the Arts, 25 Pond Lane in Southampton.

Graybil will perform works by Scarlatti, Beethoven (Les Adieux), Schumann/Liszt and Bellini/Liszt. Born in 1987, Graybil has performed as recitalist, concerto soloist and chamber musician throughout the U.S. and abroad. He made his orchestral debut at age 14 with Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 and has subsequently performed with several important orchestras, including the Fort Worth Symphony in June 2006.

Highlights of Graybil's solo career include recitals in many of the world's music capitals, including Baltimore, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, Toronto and Washington, DC. In addition, he has appeared at several summer festivals including the American Academy in Fontainebleau, France, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Pianofest in the Hamptons, the Sarasota Music Festival and the Toronto Music Festival.

Graybil has been a finalist and prize-winner in several national and international competitions including the Juilliard Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, the MTNA/Yamaha National Piano Competition, the New York Piano Competition and the Missouri Southern International Piano Competition, in which he was the only American to reach the finals. Graybil began his piano studies at age six and presented his first recital year. He studied with Harvey Wedeen for six years and in the fall of 2005, he entered the Juilliard School, where he studies with Jerome Lowenthal.
