Westhampton Beach - Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will host
Richard Thompson on October 10 at 8 p.m. with special guest
Loudon Wainwright. "Loud & Rich" will be on stage together and separately.
A prolific guitarist and songwriter, Thompson has had an incredibly productive and vital career, beginning with the trail-blazing folk-rock group Fairport Convention, to his duo albums with
Linda Thompson, as well as his 20 plus years as a critically acclaimed solo artist. His songs have been covered by the likes of
Elvis Costello,
X, and
Los Lobos, and among his numerous awards and honors is a spot in the top 20 of
Rolling Stone Magazine's 2004 list of all-time guitar greats. More recently released is "Shout! Factory's Walking On A Wire: 1968-2009," a four-CD career-spanning box set, co-produced by Thompson, which impressively includes 71 tracks from every stage of Thompson's career, and includes a 60-page booklet with new liner notes.
Loudon Wainwright has been one of America's most cherished music icons for nearly 40 years. His legendary wit and satirical genius have expanded his cultural reach from troubadour to silver screen regular, most notably with an appearance in 2007's blockbuster, "Knocked Up." "On Recovery," issued in 2008 on "Yep Roc," Loudon reaches back into the past and profoundly reclaims many of his most classic songs. Tickets are $31 and $40.
