Westhampton Beach - Grammy Award-winning rock band, The Wallflowers, fronted by Jakob Dylan, will perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 4 at 8:30 p.m. Opening act, Augustana, known for their hit song "Boston," will perform first, followed by a brief break so that audience members may take a moment to enjoy the Westhampton Beach 4th of July fireworks from Main Street.
The Wallflowers have been bringing their special brand of roots rock and lyrical honesty to listeners since their teens. Catapulted to stardom with their two-time Grammy Award-winning hit "One Headlight," The Wallflowers are back with a new album celebrating the best of high-energy indie rock.
More About The Wallflowers
• Formed in 1989 and originally known as The Apples, The Wallflowers have gone through numerous personnel changes with Jakob Dylan the only constant.
• The Wallflowers'1996 release, "Bringing Down the Horse," went platinum four times and catapulted the band to stardom with the hits "One Headlight" peaking at #2 and "6th Avenue Heartache"(with Adam Duritz of Counting Crows); peaking at #33 on the Billboard American Hot 100 Airplay charts. The Wallflowers scored two Grammys in 1998; one for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for "One Headlight," and Jakob Dylan was awarded Best Rock Song for writing "One Headlight."
• The song, "Letters From the Wasteland," was featured with Jakob Dylan in a commercial for Coca-Cola.
• The Wallflowers have been a part of many exclusive performances including a Live at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame concert for MTV, and a special televised concert for VH1, Live at Alcatraz, being the first band to ever play a concert on the infamous island. The band also released an exclusive iTunes Originals album for the iTunes music store. The album featured exclusive performances and interviews with Jakob Dylan.
• The Wallflowers' latest album, "Collected: 1996-2005," was released on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 and is a retrospective collection of the band's greatest hits.
