Pianofest in the Hamptons will launch its 2019 season on June 24.
With concerts in Southampton, East Hampton and Westhampton, each performance will feature world-renowned piano music and musical reviews by Pianofest’s director Paul Schenly.
Pianofest, created by Paul Schenly, is a summer school that offers focused training to a selective group of pianists. These pianists are all specifically selected through an audition. Each week’s concerts feature these hand chosen musicians, and display their tremendous talents.
“Each Pianofest season presents a world of music in a dynamic format that shares the curiosity and background of works familiar and new, centered around the talents of the best young performers of today from around the world,” Schenly noted. “Much as with Balanchine’s New York City Ballet offerings to the community, our audiences experience a fresh program announced on the spot, for an experience showcasing a unique vision of the future of music performance.”
This year’s programming will take place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (18 James Lane, East Hampton) and Avram Theater (
239 Montauk Highway, Southampton). Pianofest will also expand its reach with two additional concerts at Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach). Each concert will display impressive emerging talent.
Every concert will be followed by a reception, allowing attendees to mingle with fellow members of the Hamptons community, as well as meet the extraordinary artists from the concert.
The season opening concert will be on June 24 at the Southampton Cultural Center’s Levitas Center for the Arts (
25 Pond Lane, Southampton).
For Southampton and East Hampton, concerts tickets will cost $20, while Westhampton tickets will cost $23. Students will be allowed free admission.
This program most certainly presents founder Paul Schenly’s creative vision to create “a community of pianists and piano-lovers surrounded by nature’s wonder of the East End.”
