Texas icon and country music star Jack Ingram will be supporting his latest album, Midnight Motel
, with a performance at the Stephen Talkhouse
in Amagansett on Saturday, October 15th.
"The Stephen Talkhouse is an intimate room known for its authenticity and great music - two things I am very passionate about," said Ingram. "I am excited to be at the East Hampton venue this Saturday to play some of my new album, Midnight Motel,
meet both new and longtime fans, and be a part of the legacy of singer-songwriters that have performed on its stage."
After taking a lengthy break from the music industry, Ingram - who won the ACM for Best New Male Vocalist in 2008 - is back with a bang. When making Midnight Motel
on Rounder Records, he was careful to take things slow and allow for time to reflect, resulting in profound introspect. His approach was to stay true to himself and stick to the motto of: "Don't write a song that you wouldn't sing." The Talkhouse audience will follow Ingram on his "guided meditation" through booze-fueled hardship, keen reflections, and entertaining musical illustrations.
Choosing to make an album on his own terms has certainly paid off as Ingram's first album in seven years is earning rave reviews.
could easily be titled Backbone," said Beville Dunkerley of Rolling Stone.
"It's Ingram's first time making a record 100 percent on his own terms. He recorded it live, including witty banter with bandmates in between tracks ..."
"One of the highlights of the new album is the wistful It's Always Gonna Rain,
which he co-wrote with red-hot tunesmith Lori McKenna," noted Chuck Dauphin of Billboard
.com. Midnight Motel
has also earned praise from the likes of Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, and Matthew McConaughey
Tickets are $10 and the concert begins at 8 p.m.
