American String Quartet - a celebrated string quartet - will be featured in a complimentary concert, presented by Music for Montauk (M4M), at the Montauk Public School Auditorium. On Saturday, October 1st, join the Quarter and M4M - a community run non-profit whose mission is to offer a "fresh and dynamic approach to classical music, for everyone" - for bold masterpieces by Haydn and Beethoven, as well as American Pilgrimage, a new piece by Robert Sirota.

"Foremost in my mind in composing this work was to capture a vision of the epic quality of our country - the awesome diversity of its landscape and its people," said Miloš Repicky about American Pilgrimage, which was created as a tribute to the memory of Ruth Widder.

Founded in 1974 by a group of Juilliard School students, the American String Quartet made its New York debut in 1975 at Alice Tully Hall. Since then, the Quartet has toured worldwide and performed in all fifty states. Considered one of the top quartets internationally, the American String Quartet is known for its complete quartets of Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Schoenberg, Bartók, Mendelssohn, and Mozart, and also all the string quintets of Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Brahms. The Quartet's current members include Peter Winograd (violin), Laurie Carney (violin), Daniel Avshalomov (viola) and Wolfram Koessel (cello).

"The American String Quartet's program was, simply put, a comprehensive display of ensemble mastery, of passion, precision and interpretive smarts in near perfect synchrony," noted The Los Angeles Times.

Admission to the concert is free. The performance, which begins at 5 p.m., will include a 15 minute intermission.

Montauk Public School is located at 50 South Dorset Road in Montauk. For more information call 646-342-0157 or visit www.musicformontauk.org.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didn’t change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
