It’s that time of year again! The Montauk Sun is pleased to present the 7th annual Montauk Music Festival, taking place Thursday, May 19th through Sunday, May 22nd.
Kicking off the summer season, this event is designed to celebrate, support, and promote the Montauk music scene. New York-based artists gather for this one-of-a-kind community event, where over 100 artists will be in attendance. Featured performers specialize in a range of genres, such as alternative, rock, folk, pop, Americana, reggae, blues, jazz, bluegrass, flamenco, rap, hip-hop, country, and metal music. A few of the headliners include Clair, Zandi Holup, Youth be Told, and Sean Russell. The Montauk Music Festival attracts diverse audiences, who get to sit back and relax at the start of the highly anticipated season.
Kenny Giustino, Montauk Music Festival Producer, is excited for the Festival to finally come to fruition. “I always enjoy the opening party, after months of planning and organizing over 2000 moving parts, we unleash the 4 days of 365 showcases that cover the entirety of Montauk,” he explained.
The four-day event highlights artists of all levels, whether they be up-and-coming or some of the most well-known in the area. The serene beach backdrop of the event tops off the weekend. The audience is encouraged to bring beach chairs, blankets, and grab family and friends to indulge in an exciting celebration of music.
“The Festival has become the official start of the tourist season for much of Montauk. So many local residents tell me it’s their favorite weekend, that is most rewarding,” added Giustino. “Nothing better than the gift of music.”
There are over forty venues hosting the Festival, including the Village Green, Gurney’s Inn, The Point Bar & Grill, The Sloppy Tuna, Montauk Brewing Company, Left Hand Coffee, Sole East, and Montauk Bake Shop. The Festival is entirely volunteer-run and would not be possible without the generous support of community members and businesses.
An opening night party will take place at Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa on Thursday, May 19th at 8 p.m. The evening will feature shows from eight bands. Admission is $45 and includes passed hors d’oeuvres, beer and drink vendors, as well as a cash bar. Concerts begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
