We're all familiar with "Frosty the Snowman," but did you know that one of his creators is from the East End? On Monday, December 21st, Riverhead's Don Duga
, who assisted with the creation of the famed snowman, will be featured in a lecture and caricatures demonstration at Bay Street Theater
. The evening will also include the Sag Harbor-based theater's Holiday Party and a Sing-along led by Rick Unterberg, a pianist who plays regularly at Town House.
Don Duga was a member of the team of animators at Rankin, Bass Agency in New York City
who helped make "Frosty" come to life. He had a hand in creating several other popular film and television show characters, like "Mad Monster Party," the Coneheads from "Saturday Night Live," "The Last Unicorn," "Smokey the Bear," and "Mr. Magoo." And, "Frosty" isn't the only Christmas classic Duga was a part of. He also collaborated on "The Last Drummer Boy" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." While he's worked on many treasured animated favorites, that's not his only focus. Duga's also captured the likes of notable subjects such as The Beatles
and "Grey Gardens
," the East Hampton abode owned by the eccentric cousins of Jackie Kennedy.

After Duga's talk, attendees (both young and old) can watch in awe as the talented illustrator sketches your family into a scene from "Frosty," which will be available for purchase. Once all the "Frosty" fun is over, the family-friendly holiday festivities will commence. Spread holiday cheer and leave feeling joyous as you belt out beloved seasonal classics, and who knows, maybe the crowd will even get to sing the theme song of "Frosty" alongside his creator.
Admission is $15 per family or $30 per family for entry and a caricature.
