This year’s Southampton Cultural Center Summer Rose concert will feature acclaimed soprano Sarah Moulton Faux, renowned violinist Junko Ohtsu and piano virtuoso Wei-En Hsu. The performance will showcase melodies from the musical salons of 19th century Paris.
“This year’s concert is particularly important to me as I will be performing the repertoire of my ancestor Lillie Moulton who was an American opera singer and socialite in Paris from 1858-1875,” Moulton Faux said. Her first opera performance was at the age of 12, when she played Amahl in “Amahl in the Night Visitors” with Opera of the Hamptons at Southampton Intermediate School. She has since come a long way, as “Opera News” describes her as a “winsome blonde” who made a “bright eyed, bright voiced Zerlina.”
Junko Ohtsu is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. Ohtsu has been featured as a soloist with the St. Louis Symphony, the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra, the Simon Bolivar National Orchestra of Venezuela and others, as well as in solo recitals throughout the United States, Asia and Europe.
