The famous UK group, The Zombies penetrated the airwaves with refined melodies, breathy vocals and showy keyboard riffs with their 1960’s, chart-topping singles like “She’s Not There” and “Time of the Season.” They were the second UK group following the Beatles to score a number one hit in America. Many bands after them have mentioned The Zombies’ work as pop idols, including artists like Neko Case and Nick Cave (who have recorded “She’s Not There” for the popular HBO series “True Blood”), She & Him, Beck, Belle and Sebastian, The Black Angels, The Fleet Foxes, Beach House, and The Beautiful South.
The band’s swan-song album, Odessey & Oracle recently ranked at number one hundred in Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” definitely something to be very proud of. Last year, RollingStone.com & VEVO debuted The Zombies’ first-ever music video for “Any Other Way.” The Zombies were also excited to announce their nomination to the 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
Joined by bassist, Jim Rodford (formerly of ARGENT and The Kinks), Rodford’s son, Steve on drums, and renowned session guitarist Tom Toomey, the founding members Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent have revived The Zombies for a new generation of fans on their new album Breathe Out, Breathe In. Be sure to tune in for a great show!
Psychedelic pop-rock hallmarks, The Zombies with Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent will perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are priced at $65, $80, and $90.
