Southampton Cultural Center Presents Jeewon Lee

Southampton - Southampton Cultural Center's Rising Stars Piano Series presents Jeewon Lee on Saturday, November 12 at 7 p.m. at the Levitas Center for the Arts, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton. Praised for her immaculate technique and refined artistry, Korean pianist Jeewon Lee, 2010-2011 most appreciated Pianofest Participant, has performed extensively in major venues such as Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie-Weill Recital Hall. She was twice voted "Audience Favorite" at Houston Symphony's Ima Hogg Competition in 2008 and 2009 and Ms. Lee's performances with Houston Symphony was broadcast live on KUHF and received critical acclaim.

Since her Los Angeles debut with New West Symphony 1997, Lee has performed in the U.S., Spain, Canada, Germany and Korea.

Lee gave a debut recital at Chopin Hall in Seoul in 1994. Winning renowned competitions early in her studies, she was invited to the Young Musicians Festival to perform at some of the most distinguished concert halls in Korea. In July 1995, she performed for Daniel Pollack, subsequently coming to the U.S. to study with him.She has played in master classes for Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, Arie Vardi among others. She has also performed at the Banff Center (Canada), Sarasota Music Festival, and the New Millennium Piano Festival (Spain).

On November 12, Lee will perform two Sonatas by Antonio Soler, Enrique Granados' " Oriental" from Danzas españolas, " Los Requiebros" from Goyescas and Chopin's spectacular Sonata No. 3 in B minor

Lee has successfully completed a double degree program in Economics and Piano Performance at Northwestern University. During the graduate program at the Juilliard School, she studied with Julian Martin. Currently, Lee is a doctoral student in the studio of Jon Kimura Parker at Rice University where she serves on the faculty of the preparatory division of the Shepherd School of Music.
