Westhampton Beach - Grammy Award-winning music legend
Kris Kristofferson will perform a rare, solo evening of song at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 6 at 8 p.m.
Maverick, movie star, Rhodes Scholar, recording artist - but, first and foremost Kristofferson is a brilliant songwriter. With classics like "Me and Bobby McGee," "Sunday Morning Coming Down," "Help Me Make it Through the Night," and "For the Good Times," Kris has established himself as one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century.
Kristofferson returned to the essentials of his finely honed craft on his New West album "Closer to the Bone." The album marked the latest works of a distinguished career that has encompassed the authorship of classic American songs; stardom in such feature films as "Lonestar," "The Blade Trilogy," "A Soldier's Daughter Never Cries," "Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid" and "A Star is Born;" honors including three Grammy Awards and a Golden Globe Award; and years of outspoken political and social activism. In November of 2009, he was feted as a BMI Icon at the performing rights organization's Country Awards and is also currently a member of the Songwriter Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
In the last decade, Kristofferson has maintained a schedule of international solo appearances. In concert, he exudes an authenticity and kindness that lends vulnerability to his performance. He can hold an audience completely spellbound by the power of his open, honest spirit. Don't miss this opportunity to see this multi-award winning artist in this rare, solo evening of song!
