Bridgehampton - The Bridgehampton Historical Society's third "Parlor Music Series" concert will occur Saturday, February 12 as a Songwriters-in-the-Round event hosted by
Caroline Doctorow, with
Russ Seeger and
Krystle Ford. Like all Parlor Series performances, this event is also informal, but one in which the songwriters sit together and take turns playing songs they have written, telling the story behind each song and explaining their personal writing process, inspiration and ideas. While one artist plays, oftentimes the other artists will play backup. It is a fun and creative format, and leaves room for interesting things to happen between performers. Doctorow is a singer-songwriter from Bridgehampton who has released six recordings on Narrow Lane Records. Her father is renowned author
E.L. Doctorow.
Ford is a contemporary violinist and two-time winner of the world renowned Showtime at the Apollo competition. Seeger is a uniquely talented songwriter and guitarist who's been around the Long Island scene since the 1970s when he was a member of The Sheiks. He's currently recording a new CD for Paradiddle Records.
This year's Parlor Series is being held at the BHHS "Archives" location in the converted barn just east of the 'monument' intersection. All concerts begin at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 for members, $10 for non-members, and can be paid at the door. Children are always welcome; children under 12 are free.
