Westhampton Beach - Five time Grammy Award-winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee,
Buddy Guy, will perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, October 30 at 8 p.m. in the Mollie Parnis Auditorium, three days after the release of his 11th studio album, "Living Proof."
He doesn't just play the blues, his guitar cries and screams the blues. With his seasoned sidemen and radical gumbo of blues, avant rock, soul & free jazz, Buddy Guy is a master!
At 74-"years young," he's been a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix,
Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago's fabled West Side sound and a living link to that city's halcyon days of electric blues. He's traded solos with everyone from Muddy Waters to
John Mayer and is still going strong! He's received 23 W.C. Handy Blues Awards (the most any artist has received), the first annual Great Performer of Illinois Award, the
Billboard magazine Century Award for distinguished artistic achievement, and the Presidential National Medal of Arts. He is also among
Rolling Stone's top 30 of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time."
Guy recently wrapped up shooting the "Stay Around A Little Longer" video with
B.B. King in Las Vegas and just held "An Evening With Buddy Guy" at the Gammy Museum's theater in Los Angeles where he discussed his storied career and performed a selection of songs. Now see this living legend perform live in the intimacy of the WHBPAC.
