Westhampton Beach - Chart-topping, folk/rock, singer/songwriter
Brandi Carlile will perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday, August 1 at 8:30 p.m. in the Mollie Parnis Auditorium.
With her third album, "Give Up The Ghost," Brandi lets her guard down and offers her most candid recording to date. The phrase "give up the ghost" most often refers to death or dying but, it can also be used to describe life's transformations. With a voice that is both confessional and monumental, Carlile has the ability to pull you in with a whisper and explode with raw passion. Whether celebrating her rural sensibilities or her edgier rock approach, Carlile is the real deal.
After debuting with her self-titled album in 2005, the Washington State-bred Carlile saw her fanbase explode with her sophomore disc, "The Story." Now partnering her with Grammy Award winning producer
Rick Rubin, "Give Up the Ghost" is Carlile's third studio album. The album provided an opportunity for Carlile to work with her idol,
Elton John, on the song "Caroline." As Carlile said, "When I was 11 and discovered Elton John, I realized that performers do write and perform their own songs," and that inspired her to get a keyboard and start writing. Also featured on the album are contributors
Benmont Tench, multi-instrumentalist from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, drummer
Chad Smith, and
Amy Ray of The Indigo Girls.
Opening for Brandi Carlile is
Good Old War.
