Westhampton Beach - Legendary "Grandfather of Funk," George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic bring their over-the-top tour to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 10 at 8 p.m. in the Mollie Parnis Auditorium.

One of the greatest innovators of urban based soul, rock and funk, Clinton has been showing the world what the definition of funk is for 50 years. Best known as the mastermind behind the band Parliament/Funkadelic, Clinton revolutionized the R&B scene by blending soul with acid rock, thus creating funk. His music is pure fun, with joyous, playful, energetic sounds that tingle the senses.

Clinton and the Parliament/Funkadelic machine ruled urban music during the 1970s. The band experimented with harmonies, manipulated melodies and rocked rhythms, all while taking cues from the psychedelic movement. The band's contributions to the world of popular music forever set them apart from the Motown era and include hits like, "Aqua Boogie," "Flashlight," "One Nation Under a Groove," and "Give Up the Funk." Along with Parliament/Funkadelic, Clinton was rightfully inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 and graced the stage at the infamous Woodstock '99 festival.

Whether it's his multi-colored dreadlocks or the spectacle of his live shows, there isn't any part of Clinton and his Parliament Funkadelic collective that doesn't strive to catch your attention and boggle your mind!
