Sag Harbor - Canio's Books (290 Main Street, Sag Harbor), is pleased to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with singer
Terry Sullivan.
On Saturday, March 20 at 6 p.m. Canio's Cultural Cafe will celebrate St. Patrick's Day with singer/historian Sullivan. Sullivan will perform Irish rebel songs a cappella. A student of Irish history and language, Sullivan explains the historical context of the songs he sings and will also perform several of them in the Irish language. Sullivan's repertoire includes haunting ballads and anti-war songs dating from the 1798 Rebellion to the present. Audience participation will be part of the program, as well. "The trouble with Irish history," Sullivan says, "is that there's too much of it." Sullivan studied at the Irish Arts Center in New York. He has performed with
Pete Seeger among other renowned folk musicians, and he lives in Sag Harbor.
There is no admission charge for the concert, but a free will donations to Canio's Cultural Café will be requested.
