Riverhead - The Winners Show, featuring "Best in Show" artists from all 2008 Arts Council juried shows, will be open to the public at the East End Arts Council Gallery from October 16 through November 13. The public is invited to attend an opening night reception, featuring a performance by students from the Arts Council's School of the Arts, from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. on October 16. The Winners Show is a much-anticipated annual event, as artists and the public look forward to getting together to meet, mingle, and check out winning pieces spanning all media.

Exhibiting artists include Mia Anderson, Jax Peters Lowell, Aija Meisters, Michael Malvagno, Lucille Berrill Paulsen, John Randolph, Meryl Spiegel, and Mike Withers. The East End Arts Council sponsors approximately eight juried art exhibits per year; themes are selected from various sources including current events, the specialties of guest jurors, and simply what would make for an interesting display and give artists a creative challenge. Some 2008 show themes included "The Contemporary Landscape," "The Face," "3," and "Food."
