Artist Miles Partington Returns To Southampton’s Tripoli Gallery

On Saturday, March 3, the Tripoli Gallery in Southampton will present its latest exhibition, Where, where is the town by artist Miles Partington. The Southampton-based artist and East End native works with both sculpture and paint to craft human and animal subjects in sizes small and large. The opening night reception with Partington will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at the gallery.

The show will illustrate the artist's personal history as well as the Earth's history, spanning from ancient history to modernity. He works with plywood, clay, concrete, cardboard, cloth, yarn, and countless other objects to carefully reconstruct moments that have stuck with him.

Some of his sculptures take the form of colorful dioramas that afford the viewer a window through which they can observe a different, smaller world - one with scenes of wildlife and human life. "Viewers are taken on a tour through Partington's world as they step from the first room of the gallery to the second, transforming from observers of his subjects to participants among them, which leap in scale from miniatures to life-sized beings," says the gallery.

Born in the eighties, Parington went on to attend SUNY New Paltz and interned for sculptor William King. He has most recently exhibited at Space 98, Ashawagh Hall, the Southampton Arts Center, and the Tripoli Gallery. From his self-portraits to surrealist studies, "Partington blurs the lines between sculpture and painting, reality and fantasy, past and present, human and animal," says the gallery.

The exhibit remains on view until Monday, April 2.

Tripoli Gallery is located at 30 Jobs Lane in Southampton. For more information, please visit tripoligallery.com.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didn’t change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
