This July, Upstairs Art Fair will launch its first annual Hamptons fair, which will be held on the top floor of a former arts school in Amagansett.
“We have tried to do an even split of Hamptons galleries and city galleries in a way that feels integrated,” shared Bill Powers.
The fair will forgo the typical swanky big tent that houses many local art fairs, and instead will highlight a dozen galleries in an intimate atmosphere that will give off the feeling of a salon style show. For many of the galleries, it will be their first time exhibiting on the East End.
“Many of us have exhibited together at Nada New York and Nada Miami,” noted Powers. “Yes, some fairs have cancelled this summer on Long Island, but between Upstairs Art Fair, the Barn Biennial in East Hampton and the car show at The Bridge in September, there’s still plenty to see.”
The inaugural Upstairs Art Fair will feature Ceysson & Bénétière, Eric Firestone Gallery, half gallery, Halsey McKay Gallery, Harper’s Books, James Fuentes, KARMA, Magenta Plains, New Release, Rachel Uffner Gallery, Rental Gallery, The Fireplace Project, and yours mine & ours.
A VIP preview will be held on Friday, July 14 from 4 to 6 p.m., with the official opening immediately following from 6 to 10 p.m. The fair will also be open Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free and the fair is open to the public.
Upstairs Art Fair will be held at 11 Indian Wells in Amagansett. For more information, visit www.upstairsartfair.com.
