The latest exhibition at The Bridgehampton Museum
will explore the road to the White House for some of America's most notable leaders.
Presented in collaboration with the Museum of Democracy - the largest collection of Presidential Memorabilia - and the Wright Family Collection, Path To The Presidency: George Washington To Donald Trump
will debut at The Bridgehampton Museum's Corwith House on Friday, June 2 and remain on view through October.
"The 2016 Presidential campaign may have been a shocking and unexpected campaign to many, but mudslinging and provocative slogans were always a part of the political landscape," noted John Eilertsen of The Bridgehampton Museum. "This exhibition examines the history and power of visual advertising in key political campaigns of American leaders from George Washington to Donald Trump."
Path To The Presidency: George Washington To Donald Trump
will shed light on how mass-market campaign advertising has significantly helped shape American elections, with items from the Presidential eras of Abraham Lincoln
, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan
, George Bush
, Bill Clinton
and Barack Obama
"The exhibition includes flags, posters, parade lanterns, torches, games, campaign buttons, stickers and much more, all part of the Museum of Democracy's Wright Family Collectio," added Eilertsen. The exhibition will showcase how candidates have utilized these communication strategies in their push to the White House.
An opening reception for Path To The Presidency: George Washington To Donald Trump
will take place on Friday, June 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. Admission is $5.
