eARThHAMPTONS, an Earth Day friendly Art and Design weekend celebration, will return to the historic Ashawagh Hall in East Hampton on Friday, April 21 and provide three days of entertaining, thought provoking programming.

A piece by Athos Zacharias.

"We are truly delighted with how well received and welcomed the event has become," shared organizer Anahi DeCanio.

This year's festival will once again bring together an eclectic mix of local and national artists, design elements, and East End-based farms and purveyors.

"We look forward to continue growing an enjoyable way to combine all the elements that make up our habitats at large and bring more attention to sustainable practices in the art and design world as well as our everyday lives," explained DeCanio.

eARThHAMPTONS 2017 will kick off on Friday, April 21 at 6 p.m. with a special broadcast of the 2017 Wealth Report, which was created by a team of experts from Knight Frank Residential in collaboration with Douglas Elliman. The broadcast will explore global prime property markets, wealth distribution and luxury trends in areas such as art collecting, classic cars, and wine markets. Following the viewing, Dawn Watson, creator of Hamptons Party Girl and public relations manager for Douglas Elliman for the Hamptons and Long Island, will lead a chat.

The eARThHAMPTONS experience will continue on Saturday, April 22 with an Art + Design Show. Highlights will include a special exhibit curated by Pamela Willoughby that celebrates the work of Athos Zacharias, a prominent Springs artist and one-time assistant to Willem de Kooning, whose art has been described as "blindingly original."

A piece by Lori Horowitz.

"My work resides in the present. I allow a great deal of the world into my awareness," Zacharias noted on his website. "I make beautiful accidents and then refine them. Working in silence evokes energy and movement; shape and color--so that the entire painting can be seen in a single glance."

Zacharias has exhibited in prominent galleries across the United States, and his paintings can be found in the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Museum of Art in Providence, RI, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, MA, the Kalamazoo Institute of Art in Kalamazoo, MI, the Butler Art Institute in Youngstown, OH, E.F.Hutton & Co. in NY, and the Westinghouse Corporation in Pittsburgh, PA.

Additional participating artists include Anahi DeCanio, Phyllis Chillingworth, Peter Gumpel, Lori Horowitz, Alyssa Peek, and Lisa Petker Mintz, while invitational artists include Elayna Toby Singer, Geralyne Lewandowski, Charles Waller, Blair Seagram, Scott Bluedorn, Nicole Barylski, Gia Schifani, Martha McAleer, Carl Scorza, Lieve Thiers, Anu Annam, Nicole Passman, Christine Newman, and Cynthia Sobel.

"The roster of accomplished artists participating will make for an exciting and eclectic show bringing a mix of styles and genres that range from classic tradition to contemporary art with an edgy bent," noted DeCanio.

Phyllis Chillingwort is among participating artists.

An opening reception for the Art Show will take place on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

eARThHAMPTONS has also teamed up with the William Ris Gallery in Jamesport for a sister show entitled eARThNOFO. The group show that highlights pieces from Berges Alvarez, Eve Behar, Marissa Bridge, Erin Daniels, Anahi Decanio, Judith Rosenthal, and Sherry Schreiber was inspired by nature and the environment.

The celebration will serve as the exclusive debut of the award winning Hamptons Stiletto Daybed by Angel Naula of Naula Workshop. The acclaimed master craftsman and fine custom furniture designer has worked on high-profile residential projects for Robert Kennedy Jr., Hugh Jackman, Norah Jones, and Rupert Murdoch, among others.

eARThHAMPTONS programming will continue with a Thought Provoking Earth Day Panel Discussion moderated by Cultural Curator Pamela Willoughby on Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m. Laura Rose Dailey, Amber Waves Farm co-founder Katie Baldwin, Ella Snow, members from Share the Harvest Farm, and artist Scott Bluedorn will take part in the discussion. The event will also include a light lunch. RSVP is requested as seating is limited for the panel discussion.

The three day extravaganza will wrap up on Sunday, April 23 with a screening of Hans Van de Bovenkamp: In His Own Words. At 3:30 p.m., learn about the intriguing artist who was part of the avant-guard Tenth Street scene in the New York City of the 1960s. Van de Bovenkamp, who is known for his monumental sculptures that are created primarily for open-air public spaces, has more than 100 commissioned sculptures to his credit.

eARThHAMPTONS's Art Show can be viewed on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, April 23 from 10 to 5 p.m.
