The 8th Annual Hamptons Juried Art Show will make its debut at RJD Gallery in Bridgehampton on Saturday, April 22.

Of the 70 artists who submitted over 200 works, nine finalists were chosen to exhibit works in the annual competition that is held in order to raise awareness and funds for The Retreat, the East End's only domestic violence agency. This year's finalists include Suzanne Anan of New Jersey, Donna Bates of California, Lani Emanuel of California, Miles Jaffe of New York, Jean Sbarra Jones of Massachusetts, Shana Levenson of New Mexico, Rachel Linnemeier of Arizona, Alexis Martino of New York, and Erin Milan of Washington.

"We're very excited to present such a diverse and talented group of artists for a cause that support and saves children and women from abuse," explained Richard Demato, RJD Gallery owner and The Retreat Board of Directors Vice President. "We thank all of the many artists for their submissions and look forward to the community support for this artistic event."

Demato as well as Ann Chwatsky, an educator at New York University, and RJD Gallery Director Eve Gianni served as this year's contest jurors.

Proceeds from the competition will support The Retreat's domestic violence services.

"Richard Demato is incredibly generous to The Retreat. Despite needing to rebuild his gallery after the devastating fire in Sag Harbor, he wanted to continue with the Juried Art Show," shared Kimberly J. Nichols, The Retreat's Director of Development. "The Retreat is honored to be part of the reopening of RJD Gallery."

For several of the artists who answered the exhibition's open call, they felt a personal connection to the cause. "Since 100 percent of the entry fees benefit The Retreat, we get to speak with all the artists who participate," noted Nichols. "So many cited the benefit to survivors of abuse as a reason they entered the show. It was gratifying to speak with artists from across the country who believe in our mission."

The Retreat is dedicated to offering safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and committed to help break the cycle of family violence.

The 8th Annual Hamptons Juried Art Show will be on view Saturday, April 22 through Sunday, May 14.

"I hope people will visit the new gallery space, enjoy the incredible work of these artists, and know they are helping support services for families affected by violence and abuse," added Nichols.

RJD Gallery is located at 2385 Main Street in Bridgehampton. For more information about the 8th Annual Hamptons Juried Art Show, call 631-725-1161 or visit rjdgallery.com. For more information about The Retreat, visit www.theretreatinc.org.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
