Tripoli Gallery’s 12th Annual Thanksgiving Collective: Year-Round will debut on November 26, 2016 and remain on view through January 30, 2017. To kick off the Collective, Tripoli Gallery will be holding an Opening Reception on Saturday, November 26th from 5 to 8 p.m. Curated by gallery owner Tripoli Patterson, Year-Round will exhibit works by Alice Aycock, Max Blagg, Jennifer Cross, Robert Dash, Sabra Moon Elliot, Eric Freeman, Saskia Friedrich, Jeremy Grosvenor, Judith Hudson, Keith Sonnier, Susan Tepper, and Lucy Winton.
The Thanksgiving Collective began in 2005 and has provided a platform for engagement of the local art scene year after year. The exhibition has introduced new artists to Tripoli Gallery and shown off artists that have been involved with the gallery for years. In two words, the Thanksgiving Collective can be described as “comprehensive” and “ever-changing.”
The Annual Thanksgiving Collective’s success helped form Tripoli Gallery in 2009, where the work of emerging and established artists is now exhibited throughout the year.
“This annual exhibition is a very important one for the gallery because not only does it give me a chance to reflect on the year, but it also gives direction and guidance for what’s to come,” explained Patterson. “There is a prolific local art community out here and I aim to highlight that without the anxiousness that the short summer months tend to inundate us with.”
The goal of Year-Round is to highlight the internationally relevant art scene present on the East End. Patterson has honed in on some his favorite local artists. Tripoli Gallery’s mission is to look at the past and the future. They are both equally important.
Tripoli Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 12 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
