Motivation Sparked "30 Paintings In 30 Days" Hamptons Challenge

While you were cozied up, drinking hot cocoa and watching your favorite movies this winter season, dozens of Hamptons artists challenged themselves to create 30 paintings in 30 days. For the second year in a row, 26 regional artists will come together and feature their best paintings at the Best of Thirty Squared Art Show and Sale.

Local artist, Aubrey Grainger, was the brains behind this lofty challenge. With the help of Facebook, Grainger gathered other passionate painters in the area to spark creativity during the cold, winter months. More than 100 paintings will be hung for purchase or just to browse.

Artists featured in the Best of Thirty Squared Art Show and Sale include Mary Anne Bennett, Dana Little Brown, Sally Breen, Susan Dalessio, Kimberly Goff, Aubrey Grainger, Patricia Hadley, Anna Jurinich, Ann Lombardo, Anthony Lombardo, Keith Mantell, Lynn Matsuoka, Anita Kusick, Lucille Berrill Paulsen, Steven Romm, Joanne Rosko, Bonnie Ruben, Elizabeth Rundquist, Carisa Skretch, Eileen Dawn Skretch, Sonia Stratford, Mary Stubelek, Bob Sullivan, Pamela Thomson, Maureen Travers and John Wolff.

"We will be putting the top works of 26 distinguished artists up on the walls, judiciously selecting and hanging them to look spectacular in the Gallery. Last year, at our first group show, we sold 17 works of art," explained featured artist, Anna Lombardo. "We are very, very proud of that because this number is far more positive than the norm. This money also benefitted the Water Mill Museum, as they take a percentage and a rent amount...and this place, built in 1644, is an extremely just cause."

All are welcomed to see their creative work and meet them in person at a reception on Saturday, June 25th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Water Mill Museum.

Best of Thirty Squared 2016 will be on view through Sunday, July 17th.

"We are a cool, exciting collective group of artists and we are grateful to have this amazing Gallery space for almost a full month to show our best stuff," said Lombardo.

The Water Mill Museum is located at 41 Old Mill Road in Water Mill. For more information, call the gallery at 631-726-4625 or visit www.watermillmuseum.org.
