In the Hamptons, the landscape around us can change in a flash. Scenes and Structures, a new exhibit at Southampton Cultural Center’s Levitas Center for the Arts, takes a look at the ever-evolving East End backdrop.
“Scenes and Structures is an installation of extra-large photography and paintings,” explained Ann Lombardo. “Rapidly changing views of local land and beachscapes is the inspiration behind this show and sale.”
The show will feature grand images of Long Island architecture and landscapes that the artists were drawn to, like a sunrise over Wainscott Pond or a dock on a foggy day. For this exhibit, Anthony Lombardo chose to focus on the diminishing number of local farm structures. One of his pieces highlights a barn that was recently torn down, and replaced with new buildings. As for Eileen Dawn Skretch, her wall-sized paintings depict beaches, farmscapes, and the East End’s awe-inspiring big skies.
“Anthony Lombardo, a Water Mill photographer who has always loved the outdoors, and Eileen Dawn Skretch, a painter who is inspired by the vastness of natural surroundings, will team up to feature their big beautiful images,” she added. “It’s a family-friendly art show that we hope the public will appreciate.”
Scenes and Structures debuts on Tuesday, March 1st and will be on display through Sunday, April 10th. Southampton Cultural Center is hosting a Meet the Artists Reception on Saturday, March 12th from 4 to 6 p.m.
