"Selfies & Portraits of the East End" is set to open at The Museum at Guild Hall on Saturday June 20th. The exhibit features local artists including Linda Alpern, Ross Bleckner, Jack Ceglic, Fischer Cherry, Ann Chwatsky, Chuck Close, Ahn Duong, Eric Fischl, Cornelia Foss, John Hardy, Soren Hope, William King, Jill Krementz, Laurie Lambrecht, Christa Maiwald, Jonathan Morse, Elizabeth Peyton, Bastienne Schmidt, Lola Montes Schnabel, Julian Schnabel, Joan Semmel, Cindy Sherman, Billy Sullivan, Susan Tepper, Robert Wilson, Darius Yektai and others. The show will also include pieces from the permanent collection.

From Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift to Tom Hanks to Lady Gaga, everybody loves a good "selfie." The recent surge of "selfies" has helped renew the "artist" self-portrait. How does the social media phenomenon affect an artist's view of a typical self-portrait? Is it something an artist thinks about when deciding the format and style of a portraiture? Does it affect an artist's perspective at all? Guild Hall's new exhibition will examine these nuances and more.

The exhibit will debut during a panel discussion with many of the artists on Saturday, June 20th from 3 to 4 p.m., followed by a public opening reception from 4 to 6 p.m. A Members Only reception will take place in the Minikes Garden from 5:30 to 7 p.m. "Selfies & Portraits of the East End" will be on view through Sunday, July 26th.

Admission to the exhibit is free.

The Museum at Guild Hall is located at 158 Main Street in East Hampton. For more information, call 631-324-0806 or visit http://www.guildhall.org/.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
