"The show recognizes the contribution of the New York School era artists to the legacy of art in the world and Southampton who are now deceased: Jane Freilicher, Howard Kanovitz, Roy Lichtenstein, Larry Rivers and Jane Wilson," noted curator Arlene Bujese. "Among the living artists the show presents a cross-section of approaches including landscape, abstract and figurative paintings and sculpture."

In honor of Southampton's 375th anniversary, Southampton Cultural Center's Levitas Gallery is showcasing a new exhibit, "Artists and Southampton: A Living Legacy." The show will debut on Tuesday, June 2nd, and be on view through Monday, August 3rd.

Featured artists include Mary Abbott, Darlene Charneco, Christine Chew Smith, Mary Ellen Doyle, Ann Duggan, James De Pasquale, Jane Freilicher, Carol Hunt, Howard Kanovitz, Roy Lichtenstein, Paton Miller, Jeff Muhs, Louise Peabody, Larry Rivers, Don Saco, Neill Slaughter, Mary Stubelek, Grace Sutton, and Jane Wilson.

An opening reception for "Artists and Southampton: A Living Legacy" will be held on Saturday, June 6th from 4 to 6 p.m.

Southampton Cultural Center's Levitas Gallery is located at 25 Pond Lane in Southampton Village. For more information, call 631-287-4377 or visit www.scc-arts.org.
