“The response and generosity from the artists to the 5×7 event has been overwhelming and their willingness to submit art anonymously epitomizes the shared spirit of community that Hayground offers and hopefully instills in its students,” noted Toni Ross, Co-Chair of the Five By Seven Committee.
Starting Thursday, May 7th through Saturday, May 9th, “Small Works, Big Artists,” presented by UOVO, will be on display at Ricco Maresca Gallery in New York City. The exhibition features over 200 5″x7″ works created by artists, actors, musicians, writers, sculptors and celebrities, and a few special guest artists, Hayground School students and campers. All artwork will be sold anonymously, with proceeds benefiting Hayground School’s tuition assistance program. Participating artists and notable personalities include Alec Baldwin, Mary Heilmann, Maira Kalman, Ross Bleckner, Toni Ross, Eric Fischl, April Gornik, and Clifford Ross. The opening reception will include a special silent auction featuring a piece created by Paul McCartney, specially crafted for the show.
The opening reception, sale, and auction for “Small Works, Big Artists” will take place on Thursday, May 7th from 6 to 8 p.m.
