The Parrish Art Museum is presenting the annual re-installation of "The Permanent Collection: Art. Illuminated.," which features nearly 80 works, some on show for the first time at the Parrish, within several different galleries. Pieces for this installation are drawn from the museum's 3,000-piece collection, and include award winning paintings, sculptures, and mixed media from the late 19th century to the present.

"The Permanent Collection: Art. Illuminated. is a series of nine thematic mini-exhibitions that can be enjoyed individually, and when taken together, provide a fresh context and overview of the key ideas and impulses that inspire the creative process," Terrie Sultan, Parrish Art Museum director, said. "The new installation includes many works acquired recently by the Museum, most of which are on view in the Museum for the first time."

Celebrating modern art and historical favorites, the exhibit showcases recent acquisitions, including work from artists Philip Pearlstein, Chuck Close, Eric Fischl and Betty Parsons, and new work, like art from Michelle Stuart, Robert Kushner, Donald Lipski, Diane Tuft and Ry Rocklen.

The gallery themes include landscapes in "Painting Horizons," portraiture in "Face Value," "Material World," featuring non-traditional materials and techniques, "Esteban Vicente and College," "Drawings by Sculptors," still lives in "Still Life in the Studio," "Land, Sea, Air," featuring artistic responses to the natural environment, "William Merritt Chase: The Shinnecock Years," and "The Big Bayberry Bush."

The installation will remain on view through November 2015.

Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. For more information, call 631-283-2118 or visit parrishart.org.
