Everyone yells cheese, and then you're blinded by the big, bright flash. Whether it be an unfortunately dated style, uncooperative family member, a terrible setup, or just bad timing, the holiday season is prime time for capturing an awkward family photo. Chances are you've been part of at least one regrettable portrait and hopefully you can look back and laugh. If not, then take comfort in knowing it's not just your family. Southampton Arts Center is showcasing these hilarious moments during their new exhibit, "Awkward Family Photos: The Exhibition," which is debuting just in time for the holidays.

"We are delighted to have such a fun, family-oriented exhibit this holiday season," said Southampton Arts Center Director Michele Thompson. "This speaks to our mission of providing programming for the entire community."

"Awkward Family Photos: The Exhibition" is a collection of endearing, perfectly imperfect portraits from the viral internet sensation, awkwardfamilyphotos.com. Mike Bender and Doug Chernack, founders of the website, created and designed the exhibit, which aims to explore the charmingly flawed moments that tie hand in hand with the holidays and embrace the awkwardness.

For families and patrons that already accept those mortifying moments with laughter, the exhibition will feature a "Selfie Spot," an area packed with props and costumes for families to recreate an awkward family photo. Those gutsy enough can even post them to the walls of Southampton Arts Center or share them on social media.

So as you sit around the Christmas dinner table with your loved ones, take comfort in knowing it's not just your family.

"Awkward Family Photos: The Exhibition" will run Friday, November 28, 2014 through Sunday, January 4, 2015. To celebrate the exhibit and the holiday season, Southampton Arts Center is hosting a Holiday Gathering on Saturday, December 13th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The free event, which is open to the public, will feature wine, cider and cookies. To RSVP, email to events@southamptoncenter.org.

Southampton Arts Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton. For more information, call 631-283-0967 or visit southamptoncenter.org.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
