Hamptons Closing Reception To Benefit Wounded Warrior Project And The Soldier Ride

Elsie Boskamp

Three local artists intend to celebrate the end of summer by raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Soldier Ride this weekend. Mixed media artist Ben Moon, renowned contemporary artist William Quigley, and emerging artist Alexander George McCue are hosting a closing exhibition and auction at Skrapper Studios on Saturday, August 16, 2014, from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

"What started as a fundraiser turned into a rehabilitative event," Chris Carney, one of the owners of the Stephen Talkhouse and founders of the Soldier Ride, said of the event. "Empowering them to help their fellow soldiers not only ended up being the greatest rehabilitation of all, but allowed the ride to perpetuate itself. It's been amazing to be a part of."

The live auction will feature a portrait of Native American symbol Stephen Taukus "Talkhouse" by Quigley, a mixed media piece, Jungle Boogie, by Moon and Passioni by McCue. The trio will donate a significant percentage of proceeds from the auction and from sales to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Soldier Ride.

Other noteworthy pieces include Quigley's portraits of Mick Jagger and Ethan Hawke and pieces from Moon's new "Before and After" series.

Through this event, Moon, Quigley and McCue hope to spread awareness and raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project. The group's campaign for this cause originally began last month with their collaboration with local artists and businesses and with members of the charity to launch the "Sip to the Soldiers" event.

Skrapper Studios is located at 62 Newtown Lane in East Hampton.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didnít change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
