The Drawing Room
will be presenting Alice Aycock
new works on paper beginning Friday, July 12. The exhibit will showcase selected prints and drawings from the renowned sculptor. Though she is most known for her large-scale installations, public art projects and outdoor sculptures, the drawings in this exhibit reveal the spirit of exploration that is the driving force in her creative process.
This year, in collaboration with New York University's Grey Art Gallery, the Parrish Art Museum
mounted a retrospective titled, Alice Aycock Drawings: Some Stories Are Worth Repeating. The exhibit, which took place in two venues, featured major drawings, sculptural maquettes and photographic documentation of realized and imagined architectural projects dating from 1971 to the present. Aycock's work has been represented in numerous major collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of American Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Parrish Art Museum, among others. Much of her work will be previewed at LongHouse Reserve
The Drawing Room is located at 66 Newtown Lane in East Hampton. For more information visit drawingroom-gallery.com or call 631-324-5016.
