Sara Nightingale Gallery Has A New Sheen

Devon Aragona

What's that Sheen? Oil on acrylic sheet, 48" x 52" (By: Cara Enteles)

Sara Nightingale Gallery in Water Mill will add a new gem to its' already lustrous art reputation after their upcoming opening.

The newest exhibit, Sheen, will feature nature lover and conscious, Parsons graduate artist Cara Enteles, whose concern for environmental issues is the inspiration for her artwork.

Her particular concerns of late have been with Colony Collapse Disorder, the mysterious disappearance of honeybees, the 2010 oil spill in the gulf, as well as potential water pollution that can come from fracking and nuclear power.

All, however, can enjoy Enteles works, her message not being portrayed with an affected or moralistic air, but rather with subtle hints in the works themselves, such as a different sheen to the water, or "alternative pollinators" such as butterflies.

Rather larger in size, Enteles's works of art are created upon industrial supports, aluminum sheets and layers of Plexiglas, giving an edge to the natural and organic subjects that are portrayed on these materials. The transparency and reflectiveness of the Plexiglas, along with Entele's technique of painting on both the front and the backside of the material, gives her paintings almost a three-dimensional feel.

The exhibit will open Saturday, May 25, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Sara Nightingale Gallery is located at 688 Montauk Highway in Water Mill. For more information visit saranightingale.com.

Hampton Luxury Liner
Hampton Luxury Liner was started in 2000 as a more luxurious way to travel from NYC to the Hamptons and back. The clientele quickly grew and over the years Hampton Luxury liner became the preferred method of transportation to the Hamptons and NYC for many living in NYC and the Hamptons that wanted a comfortable and affordable way to travel back and forth. In 2009, HLL was taken over by Classic Coach and things with the liner didn’t change to much for years and the owner there changed the buses to Prevost as opposed to Mercedes Setra Top Class Coaches that have always been a signature of the liner.
