On Saturday May 18th, which marks US Armed Forces Day, Chrysalis Gallery will present the work of Long Island Aviation Archeologist/Sculptor, Andrea Davide who is a member of the Pentagon's Air Force Art Program.
Her work has a central thesis of time and pieces in the exhibition will include artifacts excavated from the Philippines which opened a window in time for her. As well as recovering long recovered artifacts, Davide discovered and spoke with eyewitnesses of Major Thomas McGuire, America's 2nd greatest WWII combat ace, crash and death as a result of aerial combat more than half a century ago. After returning to the United States, Davide started exploring the origin of recovered artifacts and reflecting on her experiences which lead to a new phase in her artistic life.
Davide, an honorary colonel in the USAF will be at Chrysalis Gallery displaying her one of a kind works from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will be on view throughout the weekend.
