Southampton - While
Edvard Munch's "
The Scream" just sold for a record $120 million, this summer you can find art for a much more reasonable price at one of the many events in the Hamptons.

This year
ArtHamptons will be held July 13 to 15, 2012. This years opening preview will benefit the
LongHouse Reserve and will be held on July 12, 2012. ArtHamptons will showcase seventy-five international art galleries and over 5,000 significant works of art. To accommodate the growing number of attendees ArtHamptons will move to the
Nova's Ark Project in Water Mill. The theme this year is the recognition of Jackson Pollack's centennial birthday and
Cheech Marin will receive the 2012
Patron of the Year Award.
Also in July is
artMRKT Hamptons which will be held at the Bridgehampton Historical Society Ground from July 19 to 22, 2012 . The contemporary and modern art fair, will feature 45 leading galleries from across the U.S.
This year the inaugural
Art Southampton presented by Art Miami will make its Hamptons debut. Art Southampton will feature a carefully selected group of 70 to 75 international art galleries with works by everyone from Alexander Caldwell to James Rosenquist to
Andy Warhol. A VIP preview reception which benefits the
Southampton Hospital will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012. Art Southampton will be held on the Elks Club fairgrounds in Southampton from July 27 to 30, 2012.
For those who prefer exhibitions there are plenty this summer. The
Parrish Art Museum has several upcoming exhibitions. Currently the EST-3: Southern California in New York Los Angeles Art from the
Beth Rudin DeWoody Collection can be seen until June 17, 2012. The Landmarks of New York exhibition will be on display from June 24 to September 5, 2012. The exhibition is a collection of 90 photographs of some of New York's more than 1200 landmarks. Liminal Ground:
Adam Bartos Long Island Photographs, 2009-2011 can been seen from June 24 to September 5, 2012. The exhibition will bring together sixteen inkjet prints on a large-scale format.
Guild Hall will host the 74th Annual Artist Members Show from May 5 through June 9, 2012, with an opening reception on May 5, 2012.
Lilly Wei will serve as guest juror. The Outdoor Museum (not your usual images of NEW YORK) Exhibition can be seen from May 5 to Sunday July 29, 2012. This exhibition showcases a selection of fifteen photographs from Sheldon and Margery Gray Harnick's The Outdoor Museum (not your usual images of NEW YORK).
