East Hampton - "BROKE*N," a curated exhibition of contemporary artists reflecting upon, and exploring the concept of BROKE*N, will take place May 7 and May 8 at Ashawagh Hall in Springs, East Hampton. Works include contemporary painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. An Artist's Reception, open to the public, will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Is there much of importance in our world that isn't BROKE*N, or at the breaking point, in this decade? Find out what these artists have to say. In both serious and humorous work, realistic and abstract, the artists in this exhibition explore issues as global as economics, war, and the environment, to issues in personal life: love, family, home.
Ellen Dooley, a visual artist and curator, has gathered 40 artists with 40 distinct voices, each sharing their unique vision of BROKE*N.
