Faces And Places At Southampton Historical Museum

Southampton - Famous Faces: Portraits by Zita Davisson and Phenomenal Places: Architectural Models by Gary Lawrance, AIA will take place at Rogers Mansion, 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton on Tuesday, May 17 through September Saturday, September 3, 2011 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Prices are $4 adults, free for members and children 17 and under.

A preview will take place on Saturday, May 14, at 4:30 p.m. with a champagne reception sponsored by Sant Ambroeus Restaurant. The preview will be $75 in advance, $90 on May 14. The preview includes a ticket to Insider's View of Southampton Homes beginning at 1:30 p.m. To purchase a ticket please call the Museum at 631-283-2494.

Famous Faces: Portraits by Zita Davisson
Davisson has made a career of capturing famous faces on canvas. Famous people who have commissioned her include Diana, Princess of Wales; Princess Grace of Monaco with her children, Liza Minnelli, Jeremy Irons, Rudy Giuliani, Gloria Vanderbilt, Liv Ullmann, Nancy Reagan and Muhammad Ali. She paints in a studio on Madison Avenue in New York City, at her second home in Southampton and on location at the homes of her subjects. She has had over 47 one-woman shows in galleries in London, Monte Carlo, Palm Beach, Newport and Hong Kong. Davisson will exhibit a wide collection of life size portraits of the famous, many of whom live in Southampton, for this summer show.

Phenomenal Places: Architectural Models by Gary Lawrance, AIA
Lawrance is an architect whose firm, Lawrance Architectural Presentations, provides architectural models and development services to architects, landscape architects and interior designers. Lawrance has lectured on lost architecture of the Gilded Age and consults with preservation groups, scholars and homeowners research the historical background of their properties. He will exhibit eight, scale models of homes some of which can be found in full-size in Southampton and on Long Island.

Insider's View of Southampton Homes
This is Southampton's only tour featuring the interiors of several homes located in the historic Village of Southampton, Shinnecock Hills and Water Mill. After the tour, guests will attend a Champagne Reception and Exhibition Preview of Famous Faces: Portraits by Zita Davisson & Phenomenal Places: Architectural Models by Gary Lawrance, AIA. The reception is sponsored by Sant Ambroeus Restaurant. The tour of homes takes place on Saturday, May 14 between 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. followed by a champagne reception beginning at 4:30 p.m.
