East Hampton - Memorial Day Weekend
Vered Gallery features "Couture Shock," the first solo exhibition of the work of hot, new fashion photographer
Raul Higuera. "Couture Shock" opens with a reception at Vered Gallery Saturday, May 28 at 9 p.m. and remains on view through Monday, June 20. The exhibition features highlights of Higuera's wonderfully bizarre, sexy surreal fashion stories straight from the pages of
Vogue,
Elle,
Marie Claire and
Harper's Bazaar.
Though not yet a household name, the 30 year old Higuera's résumé already reads like a who's who of the fashion world's elite.
Karl Lagerfeld,
Jean-Paul Gaultier,
Victoire de Castellane (of Dior) and
Pierre Hardy (of Hermes) are just a few of his famous subjects. This year alone will include shoots for Pucci, Lanvin, Dior and Chanel. Higuera is currently in Paris shooting
Alexander McQueen's collection for
Vogue.
The issue will be released this May to coincide with the opening of "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" an exhibition opening May 4 at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, celebrating the British designer's fashion legacy. With spreads in the world's top fashion magazines for the top designers and campaigns with clients such as Monte Blanc, Max Mara and Paco Rabanne, Higuera is squarely poised to be counted among the most sought after photographers in the world.
Memorial Day Weekend, the opening of the East Hampton 'season' is the perfect time for such a fantastic fashion themed exhibition, and Vered Gallery, the perfect place. While the fashion world is on 'holiday' the lovely little towns of the Hamptons are filled with fashion's luminaries, on seemingly every street corner.
Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen,
Calvin Klein, Betsy Johnson,
Cynthia Rowley, Eli Tahari,
Steven Klein and Patrick Demarchelier are but a few who call the Hamptons their home at least part of the summer.
Vered Gallery is thrilled to add this wonderful new talent to their already impressive line-up of renowned photographers including
Robert Mapplethorpe,
Man Ray,
Steven Klein,
Massimo Vitali,
Richard Avedon and more.
