Sag Harbor -
Romany Kramoris Gallery, on 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor, is pleased to announce a limited number of new works by Sag Harbor artist
Christopher Engel entitled "Numinous II." The show will run from Sunday, December 12 through January with a reception for the artist Saturday, December 18, from 4 to 5 p.m.
The new works are a continuation of Engel's "Numinous" series that were on display this past summer at Romany Kramoris Gallery. "Numinous," a word coined by Rudolf Otto in his book "The Idea of the Holy" (c.1916), is explained as "a non-rational, non-sensory experience or feeling whose primary and immediate object is outside the self." In the "numinous" experience, a person feels to be in communion with a "holy" other. This experience connects to a communication with deities, the supernatural, the sacred, the holy and the transcendent. These are all themes that Engel includes in his work.
Also included in the show are gallery artists Laura Rozenberg with her "La Boca" series, Shey Wolvek's "La Duquesa de Alba" series, outsider art by Jorge Silveira and handmade jewelry by Debi Zum.
Romany Kramoris Gallery is open seven days a week throughout the holiday season from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and open late weekends.
