Southampton - Southampton Historical Museums and Research Center has announced some upcoming events.
Adult Workshops And Programs
• Knitting Circle held every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. the Knitting Circle will be held at the
Rogers Mansion, 17 Meeting House Lane; $4, free for members. Beginners to advance, all are welcome. Instruction provided if needed. This friendly group of knitters meets once a week to work on individual projects and discuss local issues.
• Rug Hooking with Gail Horton at Rogers Mansion, every Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; $150 members, $190 non-members. Come explore a maritime-themed rug hooking class with
Gail Horton of Orient. Using the rich history of the East End as inspiration, students will work to create a lively hooked rug around the sea, shore birds and seascapes that make this region so special. Beginners are welcome and should identify themselves when registering by phone at 631-283-2494. Class is limited.

• Basket Making Workshop at Rogers Mansion, on April 29, and May 6, at 9 a.m.; $40 members, $70 non-members, plus $30 materials fee. Learn basketry while making the perfect reed errand basket. Basket measures 10 x 13 x 6 inches and comes with sturdy cotton twill straps.
Southampton Women Who Made A Difference
At Rogers Mansion join the Southampton Historical Museum in celebrating Women's History Month with the new exhibition "Southampton Women Who Made a Difference." Curated by
Gaynell Stone and designed by
Jeff Thayer, the exhibit celebrates women of distinction from Southampton's many rich cultures including the African American and Shinnecock communities. Also featured are traditional home arts, old photographs and suffragette memorabilia. The Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a fee of $4 for adults, free for children under 17 and members. The exhibit closes on May 1.
