On Monday, October 12th, the 23rd Hamptons International Film Festival
) will culminate with a screening of Steven Spielberg
's "Bridge of Spies" at Guild Hall
(158 Main Street, East Hampton). HIFF's Closing Night Film is a dramatic thriller that is based on true events.
"It is an honor for us to close our 23rd festival with Steven Spielberg's new film, as he was a part of our very first edition," shared Hamptons International Film Festival Artistic Director David Nugent
"Bridge of Spies" follows James Donovan (Tom Hanks
), a Brooklyn lawyer who represents a client that most wouldn't dare to, Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance), a Soviet agent that was arrested in the U.S. After an American U-2 pilot is captured in the Soviet Union, Donovan finds himself capitulated into the middle of the Cold War when the CIA picks him to negotiate the release of the American pilot. The film, which was written by Matt Charman and Ethan Coen and Joel Coen, stars Mark Rylance, Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan
, Sebastian Koch, and Alan Alda
. "Bridge of Spies" will be released in theaters by The Walt Disney
Studios and Touchstone Pictures on Friday, October 16th.
The Hamptons International Film Festival will take place Thursday, October 8th through Monday, October 12th.
