East Hampton - The SummerDocs series, a program of The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) will present "Buck," this year's Sundance Film Festival Audience Award winner and IFC Films release, at
Guild Hall in East Hampton on Saturday, June 4 at 8 p.m. according to HIFF Executive Director
Karen Arikian.
James Lipton will be a special guest host for the evening's events. Lipton is the host of "Inside the Actors Studio" on Bravo.
A truly American story about an unsung hero, "Buck" is about an ordinary man who has made an extraordinary life despite tremendous odds. His transformation of the horror of his youth into the gentleness of his adulthood in his treatment of horses is truly inspiring. "Buck" opens on June 17.
SummerDocs host
Alec Baldwin will return for the remaining screenings beginning with
Andrew Rossi's "Page One" on July 22 and participate in an extended question and answer session for the film with the director and other special guests from the film.
"Page One," a Magnolia Films release, is
Andrew Rossi's engrossing, behind-the-scenes look at
The New York Times as it navigates between its role as a leader in journalism and as a central player in the changing world upon which it reports. The film, which follows Media Desk reporters
David Carr and
Brian Stelter, is as much an exploration of the role of newspapers in modern society as it is an in depth look at The Grey Lady herself.
"I am looking forward to continuing the series with interesting films that lead us to great conversations," said HIFF Board member Baldwin. "SummerDocs is quickly becoming one of the best series out east in the summer and I'm excited to be presenting another new group of films in 2011." Hamptons International Film Festival Director of Programming,
David Nugent, adds "Documentaries are always among some of the most interesting films of the year, and we are pleased to continue such a special program. "Buck" and "Page One" represent the finest non-fiction films of the year. They're both great films, and I think are a perfect fit for our audience."
HIFF greatly appreciates the continued support from their corporate sponsors which include Altour International, American Airlines, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and Silvercup Studios.
Tickets for the screening are available for purchase at www.guildhall.org or at the Guild Hall Box Office.
The 19th Annual Hamptons International Film Festival will take place this year from October 13th through October 17.
