East End Arts Council
The SOS (Strategic Opportunity Stipend) Grants, a joint project of the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and New York State arts and cultural organizations such as the East End Arts Council, is specifically designed to help individual artists take advantage of career-enhancing opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career development. Artists of all disciplines, including visual artists, musicians, performers, and authors, may apply for awards ranging from $100 to $600 for opportunities occurring between March 1 through June 30, 2010. The deadline for the next grant cycle is January 27, 2010. Examples of work the SOS Grants support include: Travel and accommodations associated with an imminent, concrete opportunity such as a reading, audition, artist's own exhibition, or workshop; Materials to make or finish work that is integral to a specific, unique opportunity; Exceptional chance for advanced study with a significant mentor (outside of a classroom setting and not related to any degree program); Professional fees and services for a specific opportunity such as lighting, graphic design or carpentry; Expenses related to care of dependents that would allow an artist to take advantage of a specific opportunity; Rental of equipment, instruments, or materials to complete work scheduled for a gallery exhibition, performance, publication, etc.; Purchase of inexpensive or one-time-use items associated with, and necessary for, an opportunity; Promotional expenses related directly to a specific opportunity. Application is open to those who reside full time within Nassau or Suffolk counties, are 18 years of age or older, and are not currently enrolled in a degree program. CONTINUING EXHIBITIONS

Parrish Art Museum
The Parrish Art Museum will be offering docent tours of its current exhibition Students View American Landscapes at 2 p.m. on Saturdays, December 26, January 2, and January 9. Docent tours are free with Museum admission. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students. Children under 18 are admitted free. In addition, the Museum will be offering its First Monday tour of the exhibition on January 4. This free docent tour, which is specifically for seniors, is accompanied by light refreshments.

Cheryl Hazan Gallery
Artist Jeff Muhs will be exhibiting in "The Red Show" at the Cheryl Hazan Gallery (35 Moore Street, NYC, 212-343-8964) through January 30.

Artist Alliance Of East Hampton
Gerry Giliberti will be showing his Photo Constructions at a group show at the Mayfair Gallery, 73 Main Street, East Hampton. There will be an opening reception held on Friday, December 18, starting at 5:30 p.m. The show will run through December 27, and proceeds from sales will benefit Ellen's Run.

Tulla Booth Gallery
The Tulla Booth Gallery (66 Main Street, Sag Harbor, www.tullaboothgallery.com, 631-725-3100/631-726-6835, tboothgallery@aol.com) will present a photography group exhibition through January 30. The exhibition will includes works by Burt Glinn, Daniel Jones, Karine Laval, Christine Matthai, Lilo Raymond, Blair Seagram and Susan Pear.

Studio East Gallery
The Studio East Gallery's (120 Front Street Suite, Suite #9, Greenport, 631-477-2676, www.studioeastgallery.com) is featuring a mixed media show January 2.

Artist Collective: A Manxart Production
A group art exhibition will be held at 35 Hampton Road in Southampton through January 3. The exhibition will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Participating artists include Bobbie Braun, Sally Breen, Joe Eschenberg, Steve Haweeli, Eileen Hickey-Hulme, Michael Knigin, Mary Laspia, Karyn Mannix, Michael McDowell, Mae Mougin, Maria Pessino, Stephanie Reit, Jerry Schwabe, Marilyn Stevenson, Joe Strand, Lew Zacks, and Evan Zatti.

The Art Gallery At Quogue Library
The Art Gallery At Quogue Library will present a group show entitled "Winter Light" featuring works Eileen Dawn Skretch, Tom Steele, Joanne Rosko, Gail Kern, Aubrey Grainger, and Susan D'Alessio. The show will run through the month of December.

Holiday Exhibit And Photography Show
Decembers Past And Present and "Frozen in Time: Winter on the East End," is free admission at Rogers Mansion, on Tuesday through Saturday, January 2, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., $4 adults, free for members and children 17 and under.

The Winter Tree Gallery
The Winter Tree Gallery (125 Main Street, Sag Harbor, 631-725-0097, parking in rear) will host Dan Rattiner Drawings & Cartoons 1957-2009 book signing for "In the Hamptons" through January 7, and will feature the works of Cuca Romley "40 Years in America" through January 28.

Riverhead Town Hall
Artist Dolores Castrucci will exhibiting original oil paintings at the Riverhead Town Hall (200 Howell Avenue, 631-727-3200) through March 1.

The South Street Gallery
The South Street Gallery, 18 South Street, Greenport, 631-477-0021) will exhibit Stephen Hopkins through December 31.

Ross School Presents First Alumni Art Exhibition
The Ross Gallery is presenting an Alumni Art Exhibition through January 8. A closing reception, with a special performance by Ross alum Andrina Smith, will take place in The Ross Gallery on Friday, January 8, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Jennifer Cross 631-907-5238.

Solar Gallery Off-Site Chelsea
Solar Gallery (Elga Wimmer, 526 West 26th Street, New York City, www.artsolar.com) is exhibiting German Tagle "New Empire" through December 19.
