Nancy Rowan, owner of Golden Eagle Art Supply, and Michael Weisman, the former owner of Insideout, are joining forces to open up a second Golden Eagle Art Supply shop this spring.
Golden Eagle, which was established in 2002 in the heart of East Hampton, was inspired by a small art-supply section in a nearby paint shop in 1954. The shop has served as a creative haven for the area's artists since its inception, providing top-of-the-line professional artists supplies, as well as motivating do-it-yourself kits and art supplies for kids of all ages.
The original Golden Eagle is located at 79 Newtown Lane and has been a mainstay in the community ever since its launch. The new location (144 North Main Street, which is right next to Nick and Toni's) will serve as an extension of the original shop. Alongside the wide-ranging assortment of artist supplies, the space will also provide art classes, workshops and special events for all interested.
"We are looking forward to stocking our new space with an even more comprehensive selection of artist materials for all media," shared the duo. "And as if that weren't exciting enough, we are thrilled to announce we once again will be offering art classes, workshops and special events for all ages and skill levels, which we have been unable to provide in our current location at 79 Newtown Lane."
Golden Eagle is excited for what the expansion means to the community.
"We are more than anything so very pleased to have the opportunity to provide to the community an ever evolving, nurturing, creative and inspiring environment," they added.
Classes in the barn are expected to begin mid-May, while the retail store is expected to open mid-June.
